According to Global Wood Trade Network, industrial timber prices in Poland continued to fall significantly for all assortments in the second quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter. The price of pine fell by 3 percent compared to the previous quarter to € 52.10 per cubic metre, while spruce was also 3 percent cheaper at € 52.10 per cubic metre.

In April 2024, Canadian sawmills produced 4,557 thousand m3 of lumber, marking a 3.6 percent increase from March, according to the new data of the Statistics Canada. However, lumber shipments decreased by 2.7 percent to 4,210 thousand m3 during the same period, according to Statistics Canada.

According to data recently released by China's General Administration of Customs, China imported 32.769 million cubic metres of timber in the first half of the year, down 5.3 per cent compared with the same period last year. The trade value was $6.85 billion, down 5.1 per cent year-on-year.

According to ITTO, US imports of sawn tropical hardwood rose 13 percent in April. Notable gains were made in imports from Brazil (up 35%), Cameroon (up 125%), and Ghana (up 120%). Imports from Malaysia and Cote d’Ivoire both fell substantially for the month.
