Urbanisation will see 60% of the world population residing in urban spaces by year 2030. In Singapore, we can see 1 in 4 residents who will be aged 65 and above. This scenario provides both challenges and opportunities in the areas of urban living, elder care and sustainability. Of particular urgency is how improper material use and processes can potentially pose a threat to one’s personal health and well-being through emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The Summit seeks to explore the transformative potential of circular economy practices in urban cities, emphasising creativity, sustainability and the critical role that disciplines such as architecture and furniture manufacturing play in fostering healthy and safe spaces.
The Summit aims to:
•Showcase current trends with regards to health and safety in the furniture and furnishing space e.g. emission control, innovative materials, focus on low VOC emission products and processes;
•Provide a networking platform for cross industries collaboration in the sustainability space with a focus on health and safety;
•Showcase proven use cases to inspire and motivate the audience to embark on their own journeys.
Key speakers include:
•Guest of honour Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Community, Culture and Youth
•Wong Mun Summ, Founding Director, WOHA
•Andy Russell, Group Strategy and Growth Director, JEB Group
There has been a Panel Discussion on The Impact of Circular Business Models on Community Health and Well-Being. It has been moderated by Benjamin Chua, CEO of Speco.
