In order to increase the surface roughness, enhance the wettability of thermal wood and the adhesive strength of the glue in the production of wood block furniture panels, studies were carried out to measure the contact angle of wettability of thermally modified wood samples of pine. In connection with the results obtained, the improved technology for the production of furniture boards for the manufacture of moisture-resistant wood products is proposed. Much of the work has been completed in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory as well as the Agricultural Research Service with the overall intent of improving lumber and wood products standards and valuation. Thus, the future impact of NDE needs to be strengthened. By R Dan Seale, Rubin Shmulsky and Frederico Jose Nistal Franca, Forest and Wildlife Research Center, Mississippi State University

The use of more timber in construction is one possible response, but a global encouragement of such a strategy raises some difficult questions. Existing evidence points indeed towards timber as the lower carbon option when modelled through life cycle assessment without having to draw on arguments around carbon storage, although issues remain. These days, one must also consider market conditions and must be prepared to face the worst due to COVID 19 pandemic. There still seems to a lot of scope left for the improvisation and development of the Edge materials, machine design, quality, workability, feasibility and various other aspects involved in the trade. However, the economic value of how site-specific ecological conditions interact with other functions provided by the forest. As a result, a numerical discrete dynamic optimisation model was constructed to estimate the economic value of site quality, taking into account its interaction with timber value and carbon sequestration, in Swedish forests. This paper argues that forest-based bioeconomy has kept the focus on conventional products and new bioproducts have primarily been developed as extensions to existing product portfolios due to a lock-in mechanism, i.e., a state where an economy gradually locks itself to a dominant market position due to technical interrelatedness, economies of scale, and quasi-irreversibility of investment.
